Episode 18: Show Notes and Sources

  1. History’s Greatest Monster
    1. Travis – Theresa May – For pushing ahead with her extremely unpopular anti-privacy internet regulations despite losing the snap election last week.  These regulations include several terrible things but the most egregious is one that would force ISPs to allow the British government to monitor anyone’s private internet communications.  The government would also be able to decide what can and can’t be published on social networks.…and for making a deal with the DUP in order to retain power (which could jeopardize peace in N. Ireland…)
      1. Bonus Point: Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Nick Lyon, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for his role in the Flynt water crisis said, “Everyone has to die of something.”
    2. Dave – Senate Intelligence Committee for not holding Session’s feet to the fire. Specifically regarding the ‘long standing principle that conversations with the President are confidential’ even though thats not how it works. And another point to Sessions because you can easily see he is delaying or giving long drawn out answers to Democrat senators but short answers to Republicans, AND for not being prepared (admitted to Harris) before the meeting.

      1. The legal complaint argues that the Constitution’s “Foreign Emoluments Clause” requires that the President obtain the consent of Congress before accepting gifts.
      2. Questionable whether the suit will receive a hearing.  Generally members of Congress can submit a lawsuit for an individual grievance or as a group.  Since the Democrats are a minority party and no Republicans have signed on to the lawsuit, it may simply be thrown out.
    2. Russia

That’s what I would do. If there were good cause, I would consider it. If there were not good cause, it wouldn’t matter to me what anybody says.”
